Tugas siap dan final exam masih 3 minggu menjelang. Man, betul-betul luar biasa perasaan kaya gini. Seminggu terakhir memang parah dan jadwal tidur dalam 3 hari terakhir bisa dihitung jam-nya dengan sebelah tangan. Capek luar biasa. Orang rumah nelp tadi jam 11 dan gw masih tidur. Biasanya kalo ditelpon dalam keadaan tidur siang gitu pasti gw pura-pura dah bangun dan trus pura-pura udah sadar. But not now, gw ngangkat telpon..mama di ujung sana nanya “kok masih tidur?”. Terang-terangan aja gw bilang gw capek, pake nada cuek hehe. Tp untung beliau sadar, karna gw emang bilang kalo minggu ini banyak tidur. Trus dengan santai gw bilang,”Ma, nelpnya malam aja nanti, mo tidur lagi nih” haha. In normal case, gw ga bakal ada nyali bilang begitu. Bisa beresiko tambah panjang pembicaraan-nya dengan hal-hal yang males banget gw dengar, terutama kalo lagi ngantuk. Tp rupanya orang rumah santai2 aja tuh. Asiiikkk, matiin telp..tidur lagi dengan bangganya.

Jam 12 gw kebangun lagi, rupanya badan dah ga mau tidur lagi. Mulai mikir-mikir mo ngapain. Yang pasti ni hari mo di rumah seharian, ga peduli mo kemana-mana. Yang penting di rumah. Sesudah keluar makan bentar, gw buka daftar acara Astro hehe Hallmark muter Law & Order 3 jam berturut-turut. What the hell? Just what I need. Nongkrong trus di depan TV ampe jam stengah 4.

Mungkin karna terlalu senang, gw jadi susah mikir hari ini. Jadi sesudah nonton gw ngidupin komp, rencana mo booking tiket online Airasia buat pulang ke Padang tanggal 22 Juni. Ehhh… bukannya ke-booking tanggal 22 Juni, tp malah ke-book yang 22 Mei minggu depan. Guoooblookkk…mampus gw, mana pake CC bokap lagi. Gw telp ke costumer center sibuk terus dan terpaksa gw bergantung dengan email yang gw kirim ke guestcare-nya Airasia. Ckkk…ada-ada aja kesalahan bodoh begitu. Padahal udah gw cek ulang semuanya, ga nyangka malah tanggalnya yang salah pilih. AAAAhhhhhhh…..

Barusan ini gw buka-buka email lama gw di Gmail, udah lama ga gw pake. Padahal dulu ampe mohon-mohn gitu buat di-invite ma temen hehe rupanya biasa aja kok Gmail, ga kalah Yahoo! atau mungkin sama bagusnya ma Gawab. Dulu gw pake Gawab tahunan, soalnya kan lumayan kalo @…….. beda dari yg lain. Soalnya dulu ga byk sih yg pake gawab.

Nah, trus di Gmail gw rupanya dah banyak aja spam-spam ga berguna yang menyusup. Kebetulan lagi ga ada kerjaan, ya gw hapus satu persatu. Sampai di beberapa baris terakhir, gw liat ada salah satu email dari Bloglines.com.

“Waduh, Bloglines…dah lama bgt ga buka”

Gw ingat dulu sebelum gw kenal dengan , gw biasa pake blogline buat bookmark website dan blog. Tp karna kebetulan sidebar Wordpress lebih familiar dengan del.icio.us, gw pikir “ngapain pake 2 bookmarker?. Tp masalahnya gw lupa buat transfer dari Bloglines ke del.icio.us, dan lebih jeniusnya gw lupa kalo Bloglines tuh refer-nya ke Gmail. Jadi karna gw lupa password log-in Bloglines dan gw ga pernah punya password yang pasti, maka habislah sudah…ga tau password, bahkan ga ingat pernah pake Bloglines…sampai setelah terima email di Gmail (untung aja password Gmail gw ingat…)

Bersyukur jg gw ingat lagi ma BLoglines, soalnya seperti kehilangan bahan bacaan kalau kehilangan bookmarker sekelas Bloglines. Banyak blog yang gw kehilangan jejak, but bkmarker is a revolutionary feedback. Yang bikin pasti byk pahala.

Tapi akhir-akhir ini niat buat blogging suka hilang2 timbul, mungkin mulai semester depan gw dah punya domain sendiri. Writing beyond boundary, semoga aja terwujud. Next semester dude…next semester. Kebetulan ada rencana sendiri yang bisa melibatkan banyak orang dan bookmarker.

I was up all night yesterday and the least thing I can do at 5 AM in the morning was online. So I went blog-walking and stop by at anotherfool and there was a big headline on his latest post, which I assume quite intense “Bandot Tua, Jakarta Post dan Indonesiaku Yang Malang”. I read and I was quite shocked with the article itself. I feel anger and somehow embarrassed.

I’ll make it short:

On 29 April 2007, Jakarta Post – English Newspaper based in Jakarta – wrote about a British guy who married to a local girl at Probolinggo, Easy Java. Sheldon Archer, 72 years old and Yuyun 23 years old was married for 3 years and have a good life (according to them..). Duncan Graham, the contributor tried to open up a slice about what exactly makes Sheldon Archer left his life in London and come to Indonesia.

Thanks to Duncan Graham, he did a pretty good job, but unfortunately makes me furious to this old-hag, rather give a sympathy for his interest on Indonesia itself. Here some quote of the quotation from Jakarta Post:

For Yuyun is 23 and Sheldon is 72. To save you the job of scrabbling for the calculator, that’s almost half a century of difference. “I married a child,” said Sheldon. He said he hasn’t been wed before, but has had other partners. He also has a daughter in the U.S.; Yuyun has inherited a stepchild two years older than herself.

I am (Gerry) have nothing against grandpa married a young woman. To be frankly, they do like each other (i think..) and look quite happy and satified (i bet..). And there he goes:

“Let’s face it; every middle-aged man has a fantasy of making it with a young girl — just ask Bill Clinton. Here in Indonesia fantasy can become fact.”

For a 72 years old man, talking shit like that, on the newspaper. I don’t get it. For a person who married a girl with east culture, apparently he doesn’t have any clue about the culture itself. First of all, he is not Bill Clinton and not a middle-aged man.

What makes me even angrier was when I read that this couple currently act like a Cupid. They run an online dating service and provide information about a local girl to Westerner over the internet who are looking for women to be married (i put it in a nice way here..). Okay before going any further with this, check out the description of the site. It stated:

Maybe this couple wasn’t took their time for a better URL for their site, www.slave-4-u.com might be better. I just can’t remember the term for a person who provide girls to a stranger, anybody wanna remind me?

The BIGGEST QUESTION actually how low Indonesia have been sinking?

Yea..yea, this guy might be out of his mind or something. But what happened to a faithful married? to love? to common-sense at least..?

Or maybe now it’s all about “married a potential-big-pocket-Westerner-love-i-don’t-care” ?

For some reasons, the teenagers-girls-women on the list of Sheldon Archer’s list can’t be blamed. It’s all about opportunity. Indonesia, which 20 % of the population still lived under the poverty line, is forced to take any measurement to break the line any possible way. And the women from this community wouldn’t mind to marry as soon as possible. From this Sheldon case, we can see how some narrow-minded and uneducated women could end up to.

Maybe I am more embarrassed rather than angry, but I just can’t stand that Indonesian being treated like a commodity.

Sms pagi ini:

“telah dipanggil menghadap Allah Bapa disurga guru kita ibu Suryani Tanoto pagi tadi jam 1.30 WIB, mohon doa u keselamatan arwahnya pd Tuhan, tq. GBU.”

walau kedengarannya klise, tapi terakhir gw lihat beliau bulan December lalu kayanya beliau sehat-sehat aja. Gw masih ingat – kebetulan nyokap buka teh poci kecil-kecilan di Don Bosco – , jadi selama libur gw ngantar barang-barang tiap pagi pake mobil. Selama liburan itu, cukup sering jg ketemu ma Bu Sur dan sama sekali ga kelihatan terganggu kesehatannya (mungkin cuma kelihatan luarnya aja, gw ga tau). Sempat-sempat beliau nanyain kabar kuliah gw, hehe keibuan memang dan semangatnya itu luar biasa.

Bu Suryani itu, wali kelas gw kelas 3 IPA-2 di Don Bosco (2003-2004). Salah satu orang pertama yang gw pernah curhat tentang “isi kepala” gw. Ibu Suryani jg yang sedikit banyak kasih percayaan ma gw untuk jadi ketua kelas selama 1 tahun penuh. Ujian Ibu Suryani, adalah satu2 nya ujian yang setiap diadakan selalu gw pura-pura sakit, soalnya lebih gamapang kalo ujiannya sendri daripada sama2 yang lain. Sama Bu Suryani jg gw pernah bilang untuk jangan laporin tentang absensi gw ke ortu dan beliau ga pernah lapor. Pelajaran Bu Suryani, yang kebetulan matematik, termasuk pelajaran yang gw ga suka…tapi gw ga pernah punya perasaan ga suka ma gurunya. Biasanya sih kalo gw ga suka materi, gw jg ga suka ma gurunya sekaligus.

Yang gw suka dari beliau itu semangatnya. Sekedar informasi kalau Ibu Suryani itu ada penyakit di kaki (kakinya ga bisa dilurusin, jadi agak sedikit nekuk kalau jalan), yang bikin beliau susah jalan apalagi naik tangga. Meski begitu beliau tetap aja mengajar, dan tetap semangat 45. Meski beliau itu ga terlalu bicara atau banyak canda, tapi selalu aja nerima kita para murid yang mau datang ke rumahnya. Soalnya kan ada jg jenis guru yang sok sibuk atau sok penting, jadi kalo mo datang harus nyesuain ma schedule-nya. Kalo ga salah sekitar bulan Mei/ Juni 2006 kemarin ini beliau operasi di bagian kaki, jadi pas Bulan December kemaren ini kakinya udah jauh membaik daripada sebelumnya. Makanya gw agak shock jg dengar berita kepergian Bu Sur. Memang gak ada yang tau pasti kalo memang sudah mau dijemput.

Semoga arwah beliau diterima disisi-Nya dan yang ditinggalkan dapat menerima dengan tabah. She did a great job for being a teacher and give several implication to her students too, which I’m sure about it.

NB: gw ingat, pas lagi waktu pelajaran matematika, Bu Sur keluarin joke yang sama sekali ga lucu dan ketawa sendiri. Akhirnya satu kelas ketawa karna 2 hal: 1. jokenya ga lucu dan 2. Bu Suryani ketawa keras dan tiba-tiba. I missed her, but no…not just me, she will be missed by everyone, her colleague and students too.
